They do. Minor tweaking needed in settings but otherwise it's not an issue.

Did you play Dishonored Death of the Outsider? Just came out.

I would avoid Deus Ex The Fall.

I did just purchased Dishonored 2 and Dishonored Death of the Outsider in the steam bundle. I played the first one about three or four times through including the DLC. I love that game a lot and I wanted to wait for the sequel’s price to be at a point where I would purchase it. Both were $60. That also gave me an excuse upgrade my graphics card so it worked out great for me. It’s a shame about the Deus Ex though. It looks like I should avoid.

Going back to Thief: if I do purchase it I will definitely go for it when it’s on sale. I think it’s on sale for $15 on Amazon when I checked today before I made the thread. I think from what I’ve read and videos that I’ve seen if I go in with a fresh mind and not compare it to a game like Dishonored I think I’ll be OK.

Thief 2 is also great, and I loved Thief 3. I have not played the 2014 Thief yet.

As for modern stealth games, I strongly recommend the Splinter Cell series. Granted they are not first person, but as third person stealth action games they are excellent. I especially enjoyed Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory, and Double Agent.

Out of the three Clancy franchises splinter cell is one that I haven’t played yet but I’ve been interested in trying it. I ended up getting Conviction in a bundle on Steam. And the Blacklist game on the Wii U for a great price so it is definitely on my radar for something to try in the future.

I haven’t played the previous Thief games but I want to try the 2014 game.

But wow, yeah if you loved Dishonored you still have a TON to play then with 2 and Death of the Outsider. I take my time with these and put 48 hours into Dishonored 2 doing two runs with both characters back to back. I can't say there's a lot of other games out there I've played twice over immediately in a row like that haha. Funny enough I did the same when I replayed Dishonored when I got it on PC (first played on the 360). Did a low chaos run and then high chaos back to back. These games are the best.

Thief 2014 is best compared to Eidos Montreal Deus Ex since it's the same devs and all. It has that same clunkiness to it, but I would say the graphics and art design is a lot more dense and interesting than the new Deus Ex games actually. But yeah, the gameplay and story wasn't as good. But I think you'll enjoy it from what it's sounding like though.

I will second the Riddick recommendations. Dark Athena comes with a full remake of Butcher Bay, they're both awesome and definitely have a strong emphasis on stealth/melee. And don't let this being a licensed thing fool you, the story/characters in these games are way better than the movies and pretty damn good. Riddick is actually a pretty cool and compelling character. Top notch stuff.

If we're going to throw out some horror titles, SOMA gets a huge recommendation from me. It can be a slow drive and it's more like an adventure game, but the narrative and storytelling is some of the best I've ever seen in gaming.

I should correct myself a little there, I'm a fan of all the movies too! Though I still think the games are actually on another level, it's pretty fascinating how that worked out. Pitch Black is solid thriller and the two Riddick movies are fun sci-fi action stuff, but then the games suddenly feel like this insanely legit super serious sci-fi intrigue with a really cool setting, while fleshing out Riddick's character a lot more. The art direction was fantastic in the games. I wish they were still on Steam so I could get them on PC...

While not quite in the stealth FPS genre, it's probably worth pointing out that Arkane started out with first-person action RPGs in Arx Fatalis and then Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, which aren't expensive for PC on a normal day, and tend to hit McDonald's value menu levels during Steam sales (Arx Fatalis is also on GoG). So, if you really dig Dishonored, they may be worth grabbing on sale at least. What I've played of Dark Messiah wasn't necessarily as stealth oriented, but the straight-up combat makes stealthy/ranged/magic/etc pretty appealing.

More on-point, I'd suggest checking out Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. It does lean a bit more towards the RPG side of things than the examples given, with combat prowess being something that really takes some time to build up (and is never really that great)...but that does serve to make stealth the practical, if not appealing approach to a lot of objectives. It had a bit of a flawed release - a bit buggy, and ill-timed, since it was up against stuff like Half-Life 2 and MGS3, but has had fan patches and stuff since. More or less a game that'd deservedly sit on the shelf next to the original Deus Ex, so if you like that style, it's an easy recommendation.
While it does have a $19.99 regular price on Steam or GoG, it's one that's often 75% off during sales.

I know some people are down on the more recent Deus Ex games, and while I haven't played the very latest, I think Human Revolution was great fun. The only problem I had with it was the boss fights breaking tone. Otherwise it's a great sneaker.

The Directors Cut fixes those fights a little bit. They redesigned most of the "boss rooms" to give you more options.

It's awesome, but definitely only fits this thread because of the Arkane connection. I remember nothing but action and destroying things in that game.

I assume it holds up well since it's the Source engine. I'm going to replay the PC version sometime.
