Rare Mega Man variant on ebay - 5 screw -

by Revel8 Wed Jul 31, 2013 11:54 pm

It's not mine, but I know there are some around desperately looking for these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NES-Nintendo-Mega-Man-Extremely-Rare-5-Screw-Cartridge-VHTF-Game-Only-No-Reserve-/171087837611?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item27d5a139ab

Anyone know how much it's worth? They're so rare they hardly ever go on sale. The 5 screw variant of mike tyson's punch out is just about as rare and one of those with a messed up label sold for about $200 4 years ago.

I can't remember if we have a rule about eBay links but I do know you've already posted this once asking about its worth.

There is no rule against it.

Hmm I thought at one time we had a rule against posting auctions that weren't yours. Must be thinking of another forum...

Is this one of the two or so known copies or a new one that's surfaced?

Personally I think the whole 5-screw thing is silly but if you're into them this is a nearly impossible one to come by. I'd be hesitant though since these aren't difficult to fake by switching the back of the cartridge.

No, the front of each Nintendo cart that uses 3 screws has the two notches for the back to snap in. So even if you put a fake back on it the two notches would still be there. You'd have to do a full case swap and put on a new label.

Right, duh, I wasn't thinking.

It's in immaculate shape anyway. The only other ones I've seen were pretty rough.
