An opened game that is resold could actually be played someday. This causes the supply of playable games to be smaller. Since most people on these and other forums enjoy playing the games they collect, this affects a high number of people, who are then vocal with their displeasure.
The existence of sealed games and collector's doesn't cause the supply to be smaller, especially considering that sealed collectors are the only ones interested in buying sealed games anyway.
Even that aside, in terms of availability of playable copies, how is a sealed collector buying a sealed game and never opening it any different than someone buying a cart only copy and never selling it?

Does it not occur to you that a lot of people think all of us are flat out crazy for blowing tons of money on stuff we can easily get via virtual console/psn, retro compilations, or even emulation?
Sealed collecting is a niche that gets a lot of venom on here and I seriously don't understand what the problem is.
I don't have a problem with sealed collecting per se, I was just joking around on page 1.
What I do have a problem with is sealed game hoarders/resellers. Like, folks who bought 10 copies of Xenosaga at launch hoping to flip them on ebay later on. Eff that.
That's more of a speculator thing, isn't it? Buying games new to leave them sealed in the hopes that you can sell them off for a huge profit later is different from actively being a sealed collector.
