Craigslist - North Jersey - Video Game Collection $1292

by Shogun Tue Oct 21, 2014 8:34 pm

https://newjersey.craigslist.org/vgm/4722107501.html

This lot was originally going to be sold at a moving sale, resellers should be warned that this isn't going to be the deal of the century. However, buying this whole lot and reselling at ebay should make someone alot of money given they have the time. I think the price is pretty fair, given the condition and that there are almost no sports games or filler games, this was my personal collection so there are several games from notable franchises like Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, etc.All items included have been tested and work, and many items have been cleaned. The only things not pictured are the cords for the systems, however many are included, each system has at least one of the necessary cords for it. And the Atari XE, NES, Dreamcast, & Genesis will include all necessary cables =). There are no exact duplicates in the entire lot, and less than a dozen sports games.

I... can't decide if that's a deal or a ripoff? I mean I only glanced quickly, like 50 NES games, 2 dozen SNES, 2 dozen N64, bunch of disc-only PS1... nothing that jumped out at me as "OH DEAR GOD GET IT!" but nothing that was utter crap. Buncha systems.

Yeah that's a decidedly average deal I think.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

I feel it's a big rip, by a few hundred at least, but I'm not too familiar with Atari prices.

It isn't a bad deal. I think it is safe to say that the systems alone add up to about $350 or so (and up to as much as $500 depending on how auctions were to go).

And, trying to be conservative and thinking of selling items cart by cart - there's probably another $250-$350 in the ~45 NES games, another $200-300 in the ~20 SNES games, another $200-$300 in the N64 games, another $200-$300 in the Sega Genesis/32X stuff, another $150-$200 in the portable games, and probably at least $100 (maybe $200) across the rest of the PS1 and Atari stuff. That adds up to probably between $1500-$2000 worth of stuff and, if the condition of stuff is very good, I could potentially see doubling your investment on the lot.

I've sold large lots piece by piece before, and this is one that I'd probably consider…especially if I could bring him down a little in price (to say, an even $1000). It's also close enough to me that if I had the free time I might be tempted to jump on it…alas I do not right now!

Edit: Shot him an email anyway.

Hopefully he drops his price. $1300 is a bit on the high side to get people motivated to buy all of this.

What bothers me is that he doesn't seem sure of what he owns. Two games are listed as Unknown for the SNES. That could mean Hagane, or Pit-Fighter.

FWIW, maybe I'm getting out of touch with prices, or maybe I don't see wanting to sell each individual item for max value, but I don't see $1300, much less profit. :?

Just as a example, I see the systems at ~ $275 without the Atari IF they have everything (GBP disc, cables, a controller).

Right, and the Atari XE with everything is a pretty safe $75. That's why I said $350 for the consoles and - if the auctions go higher or the items are really nice - maybe $500 (e.g. the Toploader prices often jump a good deal)
