Origin On The House program - Dragon Age: Origin is free

So apparently Origin now has a program where you can get games for free forever, similar to when Steam and GOG have done giveaways. Since Dragon Age Inquisition comes out soon they've got DA:O available for free.

That's cool I've never played any of the games so free is good. From what I understand is the games are similar to kotor, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Haven't had much time to game lately but that's what a backlog is for at least.

The second game is KOTORish, the first game is closer to Baldur's Gate.

I'd say it's most like a simplified Neverwinter Nights 2, but that'd be kind of an evolution of the Infinity Engine games anyway.

The PC version has a zoomed out camera angle that the console versions lack, making it easier to draw the comparison. In turn, the default difficulty is higher and there are (apparently) more enemies, forcing you to be more tactical.

That said, KoTOR probably set the overall structure of most subsequent Bioware games. Combat varies, but the general going back to home base and chatting up all your party members, then going out and picking between a 2-3 different ways to handle quests thing is fairly similar between them.
