From the Cracked article:

"If you're calling someone out as a fake fan, what's your victory condition? Preventing someone else from liking things you like? When your plan is "prevent people from enjoying Superman," you're a Hostess snack cake villain, and even more irrelevant to the modern world."

I just can't belive this guy is serious with phrases like this

"You are what I refer to as “CON-HOT”. Well not by my estimation, but according to a LOT of average Comic Book Fans who either RARELY speak to, or NEVER speak to girls."

As pointed out in the first article, he sounds like he's got some bottled up sexual frustration. Seems to be one of those situations where he gets burned by one bad one and goes with an over the top and completely stupid attack on the rest of them. Its sad more than anything.

I'm sure I was going to post something but then I saw this and it perfectly sums up my reaction.

I'm still trying to process the thought of a dude NOT liking women in hot outfits that look like your favorite fictional characters. What the hell!? Any girl who wants to prance around half naked for ANY reason is okay in my book. Course, when they do it accidentally (looking at you Anne Hathaway), I can't complain either.

And while I do toss around words like geek and nerd in conversation, it's not healthy to get to hung up on those kinds of labels. Getting angry over what qualifies a person to be a real geek or nerd is ridiculous. How obsessive people are about labels like that says a lot about their maturity level.

Haha nice to see that comic getting some traction.

Ya know what... I'm friends with plenty of non-nerdy "normal" attractive women, and not once have I ever heard one of them say, "You know what would be fun to do this weekend? Google image search a random female comic book hero and wear a skimpy outfit to a convention just to tease some guys!"

Dudes who complain about "fake nerd girls" are creepy as hell and typically have issues with women in general.

For the same reason why people don't want to see Rule 34 pictures of their favorite childhood cartoons. Cartoony and 2D characters were never designed with the limitations of our world in mind so even the best cosplayers can never hope to capture the magic of those characters. 3D character models and real people can never look as good their 2D counterparts. Can you imagine what Super Saiyan 3 Goku would look if there was a live action movie adaptation of DBZ?

On top of the fact that some people oppose cosplaying as a whole, regardless of gender of the cosplayer, there is also another thing to consider: many if not most female video characters are designed in a sexist way (a lot of revealing clothing). When you have women dressed up in revealing clothing prancing in an environment where there are a lot more males than females, some people will start to think that they are being "attention whores". Female cosplayers are in a disadvantage because of this.
