Thanks! Played about two hours tonight, and really liking it so far. Think I'll be playing through it the next few days and over the weekend, until I finish it.

What games do you rank as the best in the Wonder Boy series and Monster World series? Would it be Dragon's Trap and Monster World IV? I've heard good things about both too.


That’s it. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap is a masterpiece, and Monster World IV is really, really good. From a gameplay perspective Wonder Boy in Monster World is as good as Monster World IV, but Monster World IV‘s amazing sprite work push it over the top.

Also, listen too my man Marurun. The Dynastic Hero is a pretty great graphical remix of Wonder Boy in Monster World, with a drastically less frustrating final boss.

Thanks for the tip! I did see some gameplay footage of The Dynastic Hero port for PC Engine, but wasn't aware of what the differences were. Looks fun though, and the main character looks cool with that blue armor. Lol.

I might have to get a Power Base converter down the line to play Dragon's Trap, and delve into getting a cart for MW IV, as I like to play on original hardware. I have access to MW IV on the Genesis Mini, but actually don't like the quality of the controllers on the Mini.

Not a huge fan of the original Wonder Boy / Hudson's Adventure Island play style.

I love Wonder Boy, but hate Adventure Island. They’re the same game, but one is fun and engaging. The other is frustrating and repetitive.

I want a Switch and these two games! Lol, maybe later in the year. Especially want to try Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Haven't played a FE game since Path of Radiance which I really liked and glad I bought it when it came out.
