Yeah Sonic CD is rather subpar. I will never understand why some folks think it's so great. To offer one positive, the Japanese Sonic CD OST is pretty rad.

There are US tracks I like as well, though.

But yeah, Sonic CD never really impressed me much. Something always felt a little off with it for me. I'm looking forward to see how Sonic Mania turns out, though.

Bonus stages in the Sonic games are generally awful. They're poorly programmed (hard for all the wrong reasons) and the fact that achieving the "good" ending is contingent on them is really really stupid.

They had this fascination with 3D effects, and only Sonic 3 & Knuckles did so in a way that was smooth and reasonable to play on.
