Recently, a game has popped up on Kickstarter that looks so good that I'm absolutely shocked no one has been talking about it. Mercenary Kings is a Metal Slug-esque Run-n'-Gun shooter for the PC with the same graphical design team that worked on the Scott Pilgrim game, lead by Paul Robertson. The game uses a weapon-building system, a la Serious Sam Double D, as well as some light RPG elements for flexibility and replay value. Oh, there's also 4-player local co-op. If that description didn't make you want this game right away, I don't know what would. Seriously, this game looks unbelievable.

Seriously? No one wants to talk about this?
Re: Mercenary Kings - Kickstarter
It does look gorgeous, but the feature-list doesn't make it sound like the run 'n guns I know and love.
30-40 missions? 20-30 weapons plus 5-10 secondary weapons? Crafting weapons? Shop? Even more of everything if stretch goals are met?
All the Contras and Metal Slugs managed quite well with only a handful of stages and weapons without any RPG-elements mixed in. In arcade-style games, less is often more. And this seems to go waaaaay in the other direction.
It looks to be a very different kind of run 'n gun and I'd prefer to try it out before purchasing.
