New SNK Handheld Confirmed: "Neo Geo X"

by Cody_D165 Wed Jan 25, 2012 2:46 am

Update 3/15:
The handheld has been confirmed by SNK! The handheld will be called "Neo Geo X" and sold in Q2 2012! It appears to be a similar concept to the Atari Flashback series.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it even real? I feel like I'm dreaming just looking at this sexy beast.

If this is actually licensed by SNK-Playmore, I'm definitely fascinated.. However, there's just not enough information or concrete facts to warrant any legitimacy to it right now.. As it stands, it looks like your typical clone-console with SD support with SNK and Neo-Geo logos cast onto the shell..

Still.. I'll be keeping an eye on it!

Possible, unless I'm mistaken it is just a licensed portable emulator; wouldn't the first one of those. Not really a "new" handheld.

Ditto... except the ABCD are a little too close to my liking.

Is that a "clicky" joystick instead of a d-pad? If so this could sell well, at the right price...

it is a very nice design. And yeah, it looks like the clicky stick. But at the same time, aren't the bulk of those games already available for PSP? Is it really worth it to buy a new handheld that just emulates games we already (most of us) have access to or have bought for another handheld? (Not to mention if you bought any of those games through PSN, you can play them on PSP and PS3).

...but I know that's kind of besides the point. Like I said, it is a very awesome looking handheld, and no doubt that clicky-stick will be a major selling point. But I think bottomline is it's more "wow... SNK really made a NGPC2. That's  "

I just wish we knew what it is, exactly. I'm still very interested, no matter what.

I was hoping it would be something to go up against the 3DS and PS Vita. Guess not. I am still interested.
