Billy Mitchell Tribute IS IN the new Donkey Kong Wii - LOL

by christoph Tue Nov 30, 2010 6:39 pm

Pretty funny..

http://www.slashfilm.com/billy-mitchell ... y-returns/

Many of you probably have seen the 2007 documentary The King of Kong (and if you haven’t, Netflix it now!). The movie follows the battle between Steve Wiebe and noted Donkey Kong/vintage video game champion Billy Mitchell, over the world record for Donkey Kong. Since the release of the film, it has been fun tracking the back and fourth battle between Wiebe and Mitchell for the world record (Steve Wiebe recently reclaimed the Donkey Kong World Record from Billy Mitchell).

It appears that Nintendo has decided to give Mitchell a hidden easter egg tribute in the new Wii video game Donkey Kong Country Returns.

A tie… The same style red, white and blue tie often work by Mitchell:

Because everything you see in a movie is completely true and never taken out of context.

People give the dude way too much flack.

Even Steve Wiebe has come out and said that the film sensationalised the hell out of everything and that Mitchell is actually a nice guy. But then again that could just be because Wiebe is a really classy guy.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

I always heard that he's quite the douchebag, but not as bad as in the movie. Whatever, it's a cool little tribute for them to put in the game.

The important thing is that I will still buy his hot sauce if given the chance.
