Disappointed with Mario 25th Anniversary Collection

Post by ElmerGlu »

Is anyone else disappointed with what's being included in the Mario 25th Anniversary collection?
It's basically a re-release of Super Mario All Stars plus a soundtrack among other things. Why not include Super Mario World, or the rest of the Mario 2d catalog.

It just seems off that nintendo is selling us Super Mario Allstars again with a few bonus items added. If I'm missing some key piece of information about the collection please feel free to correct me.
People who think they know every thing are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

Not to mention that the game is for the wii but all three have been released on he virtual console. Whoopeee if you get a book and a cd with it. Who cares. It's poor form by nintendo to pull a beatles and rerelease the same material.
I just want to separate the cereal from the mouse mask.

Don't buy it then, that is all. Would you rather it only released in Japan and EU?

Whats with new members first posts/threadd about bashing things, this website is more about fun and sharing. Nothing wrong with complaining just don't dwell on it.

Heyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyhey.

Don't go disparaging the Beatles. I'll whoop you into oblivion.

In any case, yes, it would have been nice if you got Super Mario World as well or whatever, but you're getting a lot of stuff for the price. A lot more than I got when I bought it, anyway.

Pull a Beatles? If you are referring to the 2009 reissues on CD, they sound much clearer and better than the old 1987 CDs.

If anything Nintendo is porting the old game to a new format (SNES Cart to Wii DVD) is more like EMI reissuing the Beatles albums from their original Vinyl LP format to a CD form.

Think of it as a commemorative collector's item, not a normal game release. If that's not of interest, then you're not missing out on anything.

I agree that the lack of Super Mario World is disappointing -- especially since there are TWO versions of Super Mario All-Stars. Why couldn't they pick the one that included World? :) (..and Yoshi's Island, and, and, and, AND!!)

At any rate, its a much nicer collectible than that ugly red Wii. It doesn't even have anything on it that signifies its the Mario 25th Anniversary Edition!

It isn't a bad release, but it isn't awesome. Really it isn't marketed at people like us though so you can't judge it too much.

It is a release for the people who haven't wanted to buy each Mario game on VC separately and probably weren't around when they were originally out. You could also say it is for the completest collector too; someone who would want the fancy box/book/soundtrack.

But for the majority of us heavy retro gamers who have all these games and All*Stars already it is a pointless collection for the most part. Would it have been way better had it included both Super Mario Worlds and Mario 64? Well yeah and I am very confused on why they didn't do that anyway.

Nintendo reissues/remakes there stuff all the time... Why complain now? There is so much precedent for this. Take a look at the super mario advanced series and the dx series too. Wasn't Nintendo just reselling all of those games too? I honestly think these types of packages are marketed for the people who missed out on them originally or simply wish to have it on their newest console. Also considering its a 25th anniversary Nintendo probablly decided to focus on its NES era titles(hence the exclusion of super mario world). Since they had already made a compilation it just made their task all the easier.Regardless I prefer super mario all stars to the originals.

This is pretty much how I see it.
