I'm quite attune to EWJ. Even with a touch of paint, this game is only so-so and has more than its fair share of frustrating parts. Be honest now: how many of you have ever actually finished EWJ?

Another problem is the 360 has an awful D-pad. Unless you want to do my thing (which is to use a PS2 to 360 adapter, then padhack a PS2 pad and a Genesis pad to use a Genesis 6-button controller on the 360) platformers aren't well suited to Microsoft's console. The allure of achievements weren't enough for me to get Megaman 10 on the 360 when I could instead get the Wii version and through a somewhat complex method use an actual NES controller to play MM10.

I've beaten both earthworm jim games. Anyone who hasn't is missing out, as each level of both games is unique and full of humor and wonderful weirdness. The 360 d-pad isn't great but not so bad that EWJ would not be playable. I'll probably get the PS3 version though as I quite like the PS3 controller

I've beaten both too. They're not easy games, but their difficulty is pretty much par for that era.

I think this looks great. It fits the style of EWJ great, like the new Rocket Knight did. I think some people just get a little too fond of those old style graphics.

I haven't beaten EWJ or even played it that much, I've been trying to hold out until I can get my hands on a copy of EWJ: Special Edition on Sega CD.

You could use the toggle instead of the D-Pad...

Complaining about the d-pad for a platformer? This isn't a fighter or a shooter - this is a platformer, and not a particularly brutal one at that. This isn't I Wanna Be the Guy. The d-pad is more than adequate.

The interesting thing to note about the "looks like Flash" commentary is that such criticism only comes from expectations. We expect Flash to look a certain way and non-Flash to look another way, so when we see crisp, cartoony graphics, it gets compared to Flash. In reality it's just crisp and cartoony - something Flash happened to get associated with. It's akin to people complaining about LCD (like I do, in fact), simply because they're not used to what a crisp high resolution picture looks like. It often makes a movie look like a television show, but that doesn't inherently imply that the picture is any worse. It just defies our expectations.

I agree with you. Don't forget to mention Super Street Fighter II HD which looks like it was made on flash. One of the few retro games (when I say retro I mean about 16-bit era and before) that looks georgeous on its HD remake (which it's still in progress) is Toki:

And, of course, the reason it looks so great because it's made from a little, independent company who loves the original game and not a big company which wants to just earn more money from its fans by made a quick, poor-made remake. The should follow this example for Earthworm Jim.

This game holds true in its appearance to the original, just less rough around the edges.

You will not find this game as hard as the Genny version as there is now a level select.

The game gives you an avatar award of a Jim Suite for your avatar, hot stuff.

I really like the HD remake, but I only play co-op.
