I think the confusion is he's not totally wrong. There is a conversion of DK RACING from the N64, just with some characters swapped out due to MS owning Rare at that time, but it otherwise is that game on a handheld.

yes, Diddy Kong Racing is on DS. Donkey Kong 64 is not.

Same. I’ve never been able to summon much enthusiasm for that game. It’s probaly great, and I’ll probably love it. It’s probably going to be a long time before I find out, though!
EDIT: ...or next month. Who knows? I haven’t settled on anything yet, and I haven’t played a good 3D platformer in a while.

Shantae on GBC is on 3DS virtual console and you can transform into a monkey. Same with riskys revenge as dsiware.
There’s lots of dk spinoffs on DS and 3DS - the Mario vs Dk series for example, or king of swing.

That's what I'll be playing probably. It's the only one that takes the formula and control-scheme of Donkey Kong '94.
