I always forget that 360 game even exists.

My favorite Golden Axe game would be Warrior, which is generally dismissed as 'just a Zelda clone,' when in reality it is really 'a fantastic Zelda clone'

I can still enjoy the original Golden Axe, but if I get the itch to play, nowadays I tend to lean towards Golden Axe II personally. I know its kinda funky with some reused asset stuff, but it just feels better to play to me.

I agree that SoR is excellent. Mechanically its far from my favorite, since its pretty standard beat 'em up stuff, but it kills with the atmosphere and music.

I gotta agree with this. Golden Axe II is pretty much what I wanted Golden Axe to be. The controls feel much better and nowhere near as clunky, enemies are more varied, and I enjoy the changes to the magic system.

It's a shame it came out in the 1990s and doesn't fit this TR, because I would tell folks to go play it.

Golden axe 2 in arcades is legit the best without question. Having magic tgat goes beyond just hitting everything on screen goes a long way in adding strategy and depth. Each character feels truly unique as well.

Ax Battler is not great. It's a bit like if you took the structure of Gargoyle's Quest, and made some really bad design decisions all over the place.

Plus, the final battle actually takes part as a text box. No, really. You don't even get to fight your ultimate antagonist.

Ax Battler is deservedly forgotten for a reason. That reason is that it's pretty bad.
