Well, the forums got rolled back a bit. But I'm still moving forward in Quake 2

I've just reached the outer confines of the palace. It is time I go in and take down the Strogg commander. I'm hoping one big push is all I'll need to get through it.

By the way, were there only the two secret levels? The conveyer/tram system and the satellite? Those are the only ones that I found.

I think there was one secret level you missed in the mines.

I'm at the last level of Dissolution of Eternity and I've run into a bug with DarkPlaces; there's an elevator who's buttons don't work. It does make a small sound but it doesn't move. And I need to use this to explore two floors above me. I've got two options available to me:

1. Rocket jumping
2. Noclip/fly

The rocket jump to get on the third level is the real problem, as it savages my armor and is quite hard to pull off. I might just go with the cheats since it's a bug, not the intended way to go forward.

I noclipped that and then turned it right back off. Perfectly reasonable to do.

I just looked it up, I missed the special Sudden Death level hidden in the Processing Plant. It's not really a level though, it's basically a 30 second item grab with no enemies. I was thinking I might use cheats to access it after I beat the game, but having just seen it in action...meh, no need. I saw the two full-length secret levels.

I've decided to give DarkPlaces a try after hearing so much about it. It's nice, almost as if it's a remake now.

Found the first secret level, Ziggurat Vertigo. It reminded me very much of some levels in Half-Life.

The grenade launcher is still a cool weapon after all these years.

Thanks to this "rollback", I was hoping that we'd see some QL action last night. So whenever the next one is I'll probably be there.

All right, Mr. Poponator, now that I'm through Quake II and taking a break to go play an RPG, I want to hear more of your thoughts on the Quake II Mission Packs, especially since you fired up Ground Zero last night after our conversation. Is it as tough as you remember? Does it truly make baby Jesus weep tears of blood? Inquiring minds want to know!

What's the breakdown like for the two Q2 mission packs? I know there are new enemies, but are there new weapons and the like? And is everything still brown?
