Every consecutive completed trick adds to your multiplier. I.E. Kickflip, nose grind, heelflip, manual, 50-50, hardflip = total score X4.

Also, grind, ollie whilst on the rail/lip, do a flip trick, then land back on with another grind. Hanging out special grinds also adds big points.

Played it again today, and I found that the back pipes with the rails on top gave me the best chance to combo. Started with No Comply and Boneless maneuvers then grinded the pipe lips and jumped onto the rails if I had the speed, then finished them off with ollies. Multipliers were at X3 and X4, and tricks scored 4K - 10K. Best score was around 46K with the result being this judgement:

A solid 90.6 -- 2 runs later

176.9 and 2nd place! Note that I started off at 6th, then 5th/4th/3rd/2nd on previous plays, so I got the 2 cash bonuses for 2nd and 3rd. NYC is now available!

Thank you all for your help, now I can return to doing non point goals

Played some yesterday. Beat competiton 1 on the 1st run. Only had to do a 2nd run to collect all the cash.

Using the experience I gained from the first competition, I went back to the Hangar and found the last $100 and scored 78,880 to get 100% goals on that level.

New York looks *awesome*. Sadly the sound is cutting out on this level due to the disc issue I have reported earlier. I will start it next day or two hopefully.

Cleared New York, ALL point and non-point goals. Various cash still needed to collect, but first stage where I got nearly everything already done.

Doing much better at this!

I may end up starting the game over and playing it on an actual PS1. Why? Cause I kinda feel like it.

Well I think I've procrastinated enough, so I started up the game tonight.

I never did get around to buying 2x on the xbox as I'd planned, so instead I put in my faithful old dreamcast copy. The controls are fine by the way, ya bunch of whiners. :P

I haven't played the game in years and years, so first thing I got was a piece of nostalgia when I loaded the created characters my friend and I made back then. What's funny is I made a brand new created character, but while looking through all the parts as I was making him, I didn't find much I liked, and he ended up looking much the same as my original character. I guess my tastes haven't changed much.

I played this obsessively when it was new and I unlocked everything (Spider-man was a hell of a motivator for completing it all) and I don't feel any need to do it all again. So this one time through with my new skater will be enough.

I've hit 100% on the first four levels, so Venice Beach is next. My skills are a bit rusty (I have a lot of ingrained habits from newer games in the series that just don't apply for this one), but I still remember where everything is and have had no trouble getting all of the goals and money. Its still just as fun as I remember it, so I'm happy to see that its stood the test of time.

I'll probably finish it tomorrow.

In case anyone's interested, I made a Hi-Score thread for this, just for fun.

Cleared the first 2 score challenges on Venice Beach so far.

One skateboard game I was good at was Sega's Air Trix (arcade) -- always did well there.
