YES,thats exactly how I do my frontside flips!
I also had gotten 24 stitches to the shin doing a kickflip transfer gap and filleted it nasty..I pretty much went from practicing to hardcore since I realized you can get hurt doing anything on a board. So I figured if I was gonna get hurt why not doing it on something worth while.lol.

I also used to look at the landscape as potential skate spots, but now I look at them as Far Cry 2 battlefields (Map Editing)...

So, think I'll just hammer through the rest of the game today.

On an unrelated note:

The PS3 smoothing (read: blur filter) isn't bad on a TV. I hated it before because I was using my PS3 on a monitor at a fairly close distance of around 2 feet. On my large TV though, where I'm sitting a good 6-7 feet away, it really does smooth out the visuals without compromising the texture quality. It also helps with the 1080p upscaled text which is really, really ugly on it's own. If I could get my video processor to treat the 480p as a 4:3 signal then I'd probably use 480p plus smoothing but unfortunately the processor doesn't really like taking in 4:3 signals through HDMI.
I'm still not sure whether I'm a kid or a squid now.

I got a one inch bump on my shin once from trying to do a kickflip.

I don't know what it was but I could hammer out heelflips all day long but never even got close to achieving a kickflip. But it's funny because I skate goofy and the guy I used to skate with was regular and he had the opposite problem. He could do kickflips no problem and could never get the hang of heelflips. Anyone else ever experience this phenomenon?

NOT too happy about the France stage being one of those "judge" areas. I am not used to that. On the BMX game I have, they all occur right at the end after 5 or 6 regular course stages to give you time to get the best equipment and to get the hang of the game real good. Plus, I was able to abuse the halfpipe and get a ton of sick tricks to get the necessary points.

Seeing as I have not been focusing on score goals, I am obviously not cracking the top 3 needed to advance to New York here.

Plus, you only get 1 minute?! The FAQs I'm reading say you need at least *70K* to place first, so that means 2nd and 3rd probably needs something near to that number.

Oh great Pro Skaters, how does one achieve this lofty, outlandish goal, so that I may continue to play this and not retreat back to my GBA in disgust?

I got a gold metal with a max score of 51k on one run. Had no trouble at all with it.

That's good to know. What are some of the best ways to get points in this game? I know about the multipliers but just about the only tricks I can successfully complete are the basic grinds and ollies (spins). I try combining anything else and I can't seem to stick the landings.

Specials, lots of grinding, and somewhat of a game plan on how to efficiently use the layout of the level. Hope this helps. haha

I find the competitions the easiest things in the game. Just find a halfpipe and trick your ass off for a minute. Easy gold.

Grind, flip trick, grind, flip trick, manual, find another lip/rail, grind, repeat.

If you throw in different ones each time, you maximize your score. It's nothing to score 30,000+ in one combo.

Anything does right now. This is the first real tough spot I had on a TR game so far this year.

That's *exactly* how you own the competition stages on Dave Mirra. *But* you still get the regular 2 minutes there! It's bad enough they throw you under the bus on the 3rd area, but then only giving you a minute!!!!! I tried the ramp right near the start and I can build up around 5000 points but can't stick the landing. #$*)(#$*#!!!!!! Seriously!

So are you saying basically grind then jump off the completed area with a kickflip, and grind on another spot? That would build the multiplier up right?

I'll try this again tomorrow. That $7500 would really come in handy.
