The BEST Pokémon Bootleg? Pokémon Green for NES! | SWPG

Image

Bootleg games are unlicensed video games that are sold as if they were official parts of the series they aim to knockoff. They range from simple rom hacks to full fledged productions, but they tend to have a very low quality. In fact, many are hardly playable, if at all. Most seem to originate from China, Russia, or Mexico, and usually end up having little if anything to do with their source material.

Pokémon Green for the Nintendo Entertainment System (well, Famicom), is a bootleg meant to capitalize on the Game Boy game of the same name. Unlike most bootlegs, though, this one seems to be quite good. Is it truly worth your time? Does it have anything to actually do with Pokémon? And is it playable without knowledge of Japanese? Find out on today's Stuff We Play Gaiden review!

Donkey Kong 5: The Journey of Over Time and Space? | SWPG

Image

Donkey Kong Country was first released in 1994 and is still beloved by many to this day. However, as a result of this massive popularity, bootlegs have been made in recent years, with most coming from China. This is one of those bootlegs.

Donkey Kong 5: The Journey of Over Time and Space is a Game Boy Color game that aims to bring the DKC experience to the handhelds, except not really. Besides, Donkey Kong Land already did that. It's a unique game that initially seems to want to try something new for Donkey Kong, but will it succeed at this Is this game any good? Can it hold a candle to Rare's Super Nintendo offerings? Well, as we all know the real YouTube money lies with poorly researched theory videos. It might not be as good as something along the lines of Sans is Ness or Pokémon being rebooted, but this should do the trick and make me millions.

I'll remember all of you when we reach the top.

I traded away my retro gaming PC! However, I got some sweet pickups as well, so let's see what goodies an old PC got me!

Goodbye, Tandy 1000! | Gaming on the Run

Image

The Tandy 1000 is a great DOS PC. However, all good things must come to an end, and thus our Tandy, along with part of our retro PC gaming collection, must be sold or traded.

Also, I should mention that this is probably going to be the last pickups video I do. I much prefer my more editing heavy vlogs and my reviews, and it seems that's what most of my viewers prefer as well (statistically speaking). I might start doing pickups when I start live streaming though. Thoughts?

Should you buy a Nintendo New 2DS XL?

Image

Nintendo has just announced the newest member of the Nintendo 3DS line of handheld gaming consoles: the Nintendo New 2DS XL. Priced at $150, this new, sleek model provides all of the functionality of the New 3DS XL...except for the 3D capabilities, of course. Coming out this July, it seeks to be a middle-of-the-road offering between the regular 2DS and the New 3DS XL. However, is it worth your money? Who is this thing actually marketed towards? Does Nintendo even know what to do with this thing? Find out my thoughts on it in today's video!

New video out today on the recently released Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!

Should you buy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

Image

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has come out recently for the Nintendo Switch. Promoted as the definitive version of Mario Kart 8, does it live up to the hype or is it merely a cash-in? Does it truly offer enough to persuade those who already own Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U to upgrade? And is it truly the best way to play Mario Kart on the go? Find out what James and Emily think on today's video!
