Yeah Adam it is rough and let me give you some constructive criticism. When working on a solo let's play for comedic purposes, you need to have some sort of substance. When watching a video of similar style like the AVGN he combines his whacky profanity with a lot of nostalgic poetic waxing relating to his childhood. You need to either work towards having a point and purpose of the game you are playing and have stories that relate to the game, or have another person there to bounce actual jokes back and forth and have fun.
If you are not having fun, you are not interesting or entertaining.
Second, if you want to feature clips of the game, you need to have a segue into those clips. So many times you cut your footage in mid-sentence, I am thinking for comedic value, but whatever the case may be, it isn't working. I might also add that a lot of the channels you are subscribed to are channels that spend a lot of time with the games and building jokes from moments with the game ahead of time and filming and recording them after the fact. Taking your time and thinking things through is incredibly important for this sort of comedy.
So, if you want to do a Let's Play or a comedic play through of a game, have substance, slow things down behind the scenes. The Jaded asshole who just points at things in the game and makes fun of it isn't comedy, it is just lazy.
You can do better.
Add memories of the games to make you relate-able to your audience, give actual information about the game, even in the most bare bones of context. You assume that people know or care about what you have to say and they don't. You have to draw them in to allow them to relate to you. Sometimes having candid moments of actual honesty help.
Otherwise, just drop the schtick altogether and go the completely informative and enthusiastic, akin to the excellent
Let's Play Jurassic Park: Trespasser by Research Indicates.
I also want to say that if you want to enter a retro game community and try and advertise your videos, try first to get to know us. We don't know you and we see this as a sad attempt to cash in on your videos. You see how that went. If you spent time with us, enthused with us and made a name for yourself, you may have gotten better feedback for your videos. Instead, you alienated yourself and embarrassed yourself which is why I think you removed the content of your posts.
Its alright though. If you want to continue to be a part of the community here, you are more than welcome to and we will still welcome you with open arms, but you have to give an honest effort to the things you do.
