What color of DVD cases should I use for Saturn games?
What color of DVD cases should I use for Saturn games?
This may seem a little frivolous, but well... I just bought a Saturn and it is coming with a bunch of burned games. I'm planning on putting all the games on custom DVD cases with atworks from The Cover Project.
Now, the console itself is black, but the Saturn cover templates are white. So, should I use black or white DVD cases?
I was thinking about using white ones, but then I plan on buying a Dreamcast in the near future, and I think white DVD cases would look great with the Dreamcast case template. I can, however, use orange cases for DC games...
I do plan on painting or at least switching the Saturn case for a Japanese white one (maybe grey...), and it would be cool to have matching game cases. It's just that I don't like black electronics very much.
So, considering that I want a DC collection in the future and the relevance of matching the console and game cases, should I use black or white cases?
Yeah, I know, such a long text for such an important question.

I say go for black or white for the Saturn and clear (so you can include the original inside art) for the Dreamcast.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I've started recasing all my Dreamcast games in Black. (although I also made versions in white, because I know most would rather keep them white... http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/i ... ic=2451.30) If I could, I'd case all my Saturn game in white, but I just use black anyway. It's not a big enough deal for me to order white cases.

Hadn't thought of using clear. Gonna think about it, thanks.

I can't think of not using clear for cases that feature inside art because it feels like you lose part of what makes the case an enjoyable thing to have.

Any reason you prefer the black atwork? I mean, since you already had them in white, it's kinda bothersome to go and change all the covers.

Just so you know though, I've never seen a person who's posted up both outside and inside artwork for custom DVD covers.

Just use transparent. Whats wrong w/ the standard CD jewel cases for Dreamcast games though? I understand saturn as its impossible to track down cases for it and its burned games but with Dreamcast I just don't understand why.
Older. Not wiser.
Re: What color of DVD cases should I use for Saturn games?
Well, generally, I can think of two reasons to prefer switching to DVD cases: (1) they normally look better on a shelf; (2) they are more resistant, whereas jewel cases are prone to cracking.
For me in particular, I would just use DVD cases because most of my games will likely be burned. Even with burned games, I want them to be displayed nicely on my shelf. I understand it's quite easy to find Dreamcast games for cheap in other countries, but it isn't in Brazil.

I just gotta say, sweet avatar. Its tasteful enough to keep you out of the fanboy category, but still very awesome.
