So I think I have a pretty decent first draft of this introductory guide that talks about some of the benefits, but also brings up a lot of the concerns about it as well. I think I hit a fine balance, but I may have some holes.

Anybody want to proof it on Google Docs and make any notes/suggestions?

I just spent about 10 hours fiddling with it in the last week and could probably give good notes. Before even reading I would recommend using another emulator for Genesis games (Kega, and I guess Yabuse for Saturn) so you can set up a 6 button controller very easily. Also should use a separate emulator for Dolphin as it just gives you more options and is genuinely easier to use on its own.

It's very useful in certain situations but the lack of 6 button support was extremely annoying; everything is set up around the "Retropad" in the controller options- which gives you 4 face buttons.

Nice! I just shared the Google Doc with your Gmail. Give it a look and feel free to comment on parts and add in suggestions where you would like.

Thanks!

Surprised nobody has mentioned shaders.

Also input lag and retro achievements. I've been using RetroArch for years. Those three things keep me coming back.

Nothing in the world of emulation beats it's CRT shaders that can be applied to any core. I can't play old games without them now.

The low input lag is fantastic. Even just using hard gpu sync and not fancy shmancy run ahead is great.

And i love achievements.

I do mention shaders and overlays in a section of my draft and then I touch on some of the other features a bit.
Would you be interested in proofing it and suggestion additional notes?

I found that I could run 15khz RGB video modes in it pretty easily for play on a CRT Television.

Contact HunterK on the Libretro forums. He's super knowledgeable, and a nice guy :P

Yea, the CRT options look great too. I have never messed around with them tho. I probably should try it some day.

There are also great unofficial shaders in the forums. Playing some DS today. This is my favorite one.

Nice!
I've never actually used DS emulation before -- how does the touch-elements work on something like this?
Does RetroArch add anything special for the DS vs a traditional PC emulator?
