Good to know. That should save me some money. I'm under the impression he could just use remote play for a lot of the titles that are on both systems if they are very similar and he wants to use the Vita. The psp has provided a less than satisfactory experience in that regard though. Here's another question, if I store digital vita games on the PS3 can I use remote play and access them with the vita instead of storing them on a memory card?

I couldn't tell you if you're asking me. I got rid of mine after just having those five games. Gravity Rush I think was about to or just had come out when I sold it all off. I'm not a fan of FPS games much nor am I of third person shooter/adventure stuff either which was all that was on the horizon for the system other than eventually little big planet and looking at what was there that was about all I didn't have already too. I miss the thing, but not enough to re-buy it as it still I think for me lacks enough reason to have it due to the big lack of support Sony gives it annoyingly. It's a fantastic handheld and I got lots of fun out of it while I had it, but the fun dried up.

Thanks for the response anyhow. My son already has a 3DS so he has a pretty good selection of portable games, but he has seen someone playing LBP on the Vita and then it became a must have for him. I noticed a few things like Minecraft that were available as well, which he would like. I might pick up Borderlands 2 for myself and borrow it every once in a while. I heard that it is a bad port though and I've pretty well completed everything including expansions on the 360 so I'm not sure there is anything new there. I like the idea of it though.

I think if you go into it expecting to treat it like a kid where you play the hell out of a game before going to the next it could keep you busy, especially if you are into FPS and third person adventure/shooter types because then there's a pretty good size library of stuff. It just depends on taste, and since I'm barely into those I didn't see much to do so I eventually swapped it out for something else. Had I held onto it and not used it for a good stretch LBP I'd own, would have eventually got Gravity Rush I think, the unique Call of Duty would have been probably bought, and some others.

Monster Monpiece

But seriously, the ps+ idea above sounds like the best value.

This seems like a good value proposition. Does he get to keep the games though? Also, are they often suitable for a younger crowd? Since he has a PS3 and PSP this would have a lot of benefits though.

You can keep them yes, but only if ps+ is kept active can you USE them. Also ps+ people get an instant discount on games on the network and they can be pretty steep cuts too from what I've seen so it pays for itself very fast unlike xbox live.

yeah as long as the account is active you can play the games. the games vary but there's almost always at least ONE kid/family friendly title. plus this is at least one new game a month. if i got a new game a month when i was a kid i would have been on cloud nine haha.

these are the kid-friendly games i've gotten for free since joining last november:
Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048, Rayman Origins, Sine Mora, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Urban Trial Freestyle, Smart As..., Street Fighter X Tekken, ModNation Racers: Road Trip, Thomas Was Alone, Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark, PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate HD, Velocity Ultra, Surge Deluxe, PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Terraria, Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Doki-Doki Universe, Muramasa Rebirth, Fez, Metrico, Proteus

PS+ has for all systems FEZ as the 'kid friendly' one for free this month, the other is Dragon's Crown.

Did you know they have a one shot 14day free PS+ test drive you can start on there just for having the system? I just did it on mine, then used a 3mo card I got free too so I'm covered through November on my PS4.
