some PS1 games are incompatible with the component cables on some tvs, but work fine on others. i only know this from personal experience, but i had a copy of Azure Dreams that wouldn't work on my old Magnavox set, but worked fine on my new LG TV. same PS2, same component cables.

Yep, some TVs do not like 240p over component.

THIS. The few times I ran a PS1 game in a PS2, they worked just fine. This on a resolution forgiving HDCRT. Prefer just using a PS1 console with SVideo for the PS1 games though.

Yeah, no doubt. For space reasons I've been using my PS2 slim via component on a LCD.
