I ordered a cheap set of component cables on ebay a few weeks ago, and they just arrived yesterday. I had to wait, like, three weeks, but I only paid about $4.00 (US) or so including shipping.
For games that support it, it really does look way better. The lack of anti-aliasing is a lot more apparent, though.

Yeah I did the same thing a couple days after starting this thread, and have not yet got them in.
I'm hoping Final Fantasy X looks a lot better because it doesn't look that great as of now.
Re: PS2 Component Cables
Target has PS2 compnent and S-video cables on sale in the clearance section for $5 if your Target still has them.

Re: PS2 Component Cables
Ok got my cable today and they make the picture look nicer, but to enable a the best picture I have to do "cheat" type codes?
I am playing FFX, so I am guessing I have to hold triangle and square.
I will be getting God of War in the mail shortly, and I take it I have to do some other funky button combo to get it to view nicely?
This seems like a ton of work... what was Sony thinking.

Red Star is kind enough to put it in the menus.

Even with non progressive scan (480i) component cables make a massive difference.

Are you sure about that? Don't you have SCART over there?
I tried component cables on my PS2 and very few games actually worked with them. It wasn't the cables because Soul Calibur worked flawlessly even in 100hz mode.

My friend uses them, I have mine shipped and on there way, I will get hold of a capture card and post up some images, or even do the cheap ass camera at screen if it will show the difference. Don't know too much about compatability, but will post that too.
We dont have SCART here, but I am not talking about SCART.

I know you're not talking about SCART. I was just saying that in this country we can get RGB over SCART and all the games are compatible with it.
