replacing the internal screen on a wonderswan

Post by Betagam7 »

I bought an original B&W wonderswan from ebay lately which came with a frontlight installed.

While it looks great when illuminated I can see that there is some sort of damage to the inner screen (not the glass screen itself). I haven't been able to capture a good photo of it but I'd describe it as a sort of water mark akin to a stain you might get on glass.

I read something about LCD screens leaking and wondered if this was what it was. It's not hugely noticeable during gameplay but I'm wondering if there is a way to repair it or would I be able to easily swap it out for another wonderswan's parts (since I know nothing about frontlighting that would seem the easiest option) as the original systems are cheap enough and this frontlit one only cost me £15.

Could it be damage caused by the person who installed the frontlight? Any tips appreciated. I'll try to capture a screenshot in the meantime.
