120mm Fan on a XBOX 360 mod by s8n

Post by s8n »

hi members , ive been working on this for the last week amongst other things..............

its a 120mm Fan on a XBOX 360 Shell , it took about 4 hours to do spread over a week the longest task was the sanding and filing.

the project consists of measuring , melting the circle , filing and sanding , drilling holes , and then assembling

if i was to give it a rating i would give it 9/10 im really happy with it except when i measured the circle i measured 6 cm with a compass , i should have measured 5.7 cm as there is a little movement after the screws have gone in hence about 1 mm of the circle is exposed on 2 sides you can see it on the last photo.

being my first of multiple i will be doing for my 360's a small adjustment in the circle with a compass will make the next ones i do fabulous.

So did you pick that fan out because of the blue light bling? Or does it move more air or is quieter than other models?

Also, plan to put something like this on it?...

Have you thought about dust at all? That fan will pull a lot of dust into the system. You can get various different style dust covers, like this one...

It'll restrict it a little (which makes the CFM spec more important) but it's worth it. You'll just have to clean the dust cover instead of having to open up the console to dust it out.

I did a similar mod to my jtag xbox a while back, I tried to find the post, but the pictures are no longer hosted. If you are interested in what I did, I can snap a few when I get home.

hi members , i got some figures of my Jasper PHAT running with 2 12V Fans in the back and the top Fan mod vs just the stock 2 5V Fans.

also i want to say thanks to fastbilly1 for the suggestion of a Flex Shaft tool to speed up the process in making my second Fan mod. The first mod took about 2 1/2 hours of filing and sanding , i got a Dremel with a Flex Shaft and it took about 45 mins with a bit of Dremel work filing and hand sanding.
