Was thinking about getting me a 50001 PS2, would that be one you can mod?

Yeah, only the late slims would be an issue. That 50001 phat is good to go.

Thanks for sending me a message. I'm still interested.

Does a SATA-to-IDE adapter work? Or do I need to stick to true blue IDE HDDs?

Hey man, I poured even more into my mod this weekend. I've got it all tweaked & updated on latest software versions.

Versus using a SATA adapter with mixed results, below seems to easiest method these days. No LAN support means you'll have to move games over from the PC while hardwired vs FTP over home network.

Full disclosure, I don't own one of these adapters yet as I still have free space on my IDEs. The process would be the same on my end, just using SATA to USB vs IDE to transfer games.

Jagosaurus wrote:Yeah, I would've already gone the SATA route also after my original 250GB IDE, but then I saved those (3) 80GB drives from work PC that were headed to an electronics salvage company. So then I had another 240GB to play with for free.

Now there's easier SATA options out of the box. These third party Chinese SATA adapters run $15 to $20. Supports 2.5 & 3.5 inch HDDs. I'll eventually go this route as most "new" IDEs are NOS on borrowed time.

Note the LAN/Ethernet port is just for show.
