Ok, so I'm in the middle of updated the Rare and Valuable NES guide
http://www.racketboy.com/retro/nintendo ... -nes-games
I'm trying to get a handle on the current situation of both the gold and great cartridges and their recent sales.
Here's what I'm seeing:
Gold Cart w/ Label sold a month ago for $25K. (July 2)
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200 ... Sw0j9ZVbr2
Gold cart with no label and some scratches, sold 5 days later for $3000 (July 4)
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200 ... Sw8GtZWr1-
Another Gold Cart with the same photo as the labeled one above from the same seller, sold for $999.99 a week later (July 10)
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200 ... Sw0j9ZVbr2
A grey cartridge with label sold on May 2 for $25K
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200 ... Sw-3FZBSQD
This blog post about a sale of the grey cart with worn label for $100K!

I'm guessing the exposure online got a bunch of bad bids?
Can anyone shine more light on some of this madness? Recommendations on pricing? If you're just going by recent stuff and my older documented sales, the grey Increased from $8300 to $25,000 for a mint copy over 5+ years.
A mint gold one went for $21,000 years ago, but doesn't seem to have increased quite as drastically.
Not sure if there was fraud going on in those newer ones too. Anyone have any other reliable historical info from the past 3 or 4 years?
NES World Championship Grey/Gold Cartridge Status
Re: NES World Championship Grey/Gold Cartridge Status
With so few items on the market concrete valuations are going to be highly suspect. Even auction houses get estimates pretty wrong sometimes, and none of these are selling through Sotheby's, y'know? So basically, you just have to set a broad range and make it clear none of us are going to own one any time soon.

While I do agree, in theory, some of these, like the NES Championship carts get enough attention that there is usually some discussion about it an was curious if people knew more info than I could find. eBay is usually a pretty good source of pricing, but some of these seem way more odd than usual, which is why I'm asking.

Awesome! Nice find! I love Ars. And they were so much more helpful than a click-bait articles elsewhere.

Yes he does; #0060. But to marurun's point, it really is a crapshoot in terms of how much the carts will go for. There's just not enough volume to really nail down a price like you can with things like PDS.
