Re: SNES Classic coming September 29th

What kind of problems are we talking about with the audio stuff? Cart wise I have ogre battle, actraiser, and that maybe it as far as SNES goes. I'm curious if they have issues, well at least ogre battle as actraiser came at launch.

And I wonder, if high res display like in SD3 have problems, what about others that use special visuals like Axelay and Spriggan Powered?

Haven't heard any issues with either of those two, but Illusion of Gaia in particular either boots with no sound, or doesn't boot at all. There's a fix available for that ROM in particular though.. Another person is also working on Terranigma and ActRaiser 2

EMIO just released a SNES Advantage. If it uses Seimitsu parts like the NES advantage they released, it is a steal at $30

That looks solid. I've been on the look out for a couple years now locally for a SNES Advantage. The shipping on them suck due to the thick metal base plate and overall size. That does look like a decent knockoff of it with a different molding and you're right if it has those arcade level quality parts inside it's a steal.

My first thought is that there's really only ONE game on the SNES Classic worth getting a joystick for. But I guess it's also compatible with the NES Classic as well as PC. And I wonder, since it's using an adapter for USB, will that adapter work for other types of Classic Controllers?

$30 seems like a great price.

I wanted a SNES Advantage for years, but was very disappointed when I finally got one.

Ehh that won't sway me. I had one back when they came out and played the hell out of it, quite a lot with Street Fighter II which gave me even more of a feel for the arcade game I was playing around it helping me school chumps and keep their quarters off the glass when I played that summer. :D I have a busted one in my closet here I was given (cracked pcb) but the body is excellent. I'd love to find a working trashed to hell one, or if someone had a busted shell and would mail me the board I'd be grateful.

That is interesting, possible other Classic Controllers for the PC? One thing to point out is the earlier Emio NES Stick supported the Dpad and not the analog stick for Wii Classic Controller games.

EDIT
Spoiler for review later.

Thanks for heads up. SWEET! The Classic Controller plug should work on the Wii and a PC USB adapter also included!
I bought two of the earlier Emio NES Advantage Joysticks for my Wii and confirm the solid click switches in the stick decent, a definite improvement over the original. Though not industrial arcade quality, reminds me of arcade Robotron stick solid hits of the stick. The Emio NES Stick had control issues with the NES Classic, so Emio included an add on adapter that changed some of the controller values in newer packages. The adapter has a very neat undocumented bonus of unique game play on the Wii due to the control value change. Since the control problems have been identified, doubt the SNES stick will come with the extra plug, but does include a USB adapter for the PC!

 Discovered the Emio NES Classic Adapter does in fact change the sensitivity of the Dpad function of the stick. Without the adapter, Rayman sprint runs and with the adapter Rayman walks! Sideways Wiimote sets only to walk mode. The Nunchuck mode includes a fire button sprint running mode.

Unique Auto Run Auto Walk Control Capability - Only on The Edge Joystick
 I prefer playing Rayman in the automatic sprint run mode with the Advantage Arcade style stick. However, there are levels that require careful timed jumps at tricky platforms. For those levels, I simply plug in the NES Classic Adapter to enable the walk mode of Rayman. The buttons work great, one for jump and one for attack. The Edge also has a combo A B button for quick jump attacks. Enabling the turbo fire buttons with variable range knobs confirmed to work; Rayman will continually jump or attack just by holding the button down. This will come in handy on the later Rayman SHMUP levels!

For the Munchables game, I can use the Tatsunko Arcade Stick since it has an Analog Stick mode. My PSX Blaze Arcade Stick as well supports the Analog stick with a Mayflash Adapter. Due to Analog only movement control, this confirms The Edge Joystick is definitely only Dpad control support either with or without the NES Classic Adapter plugged in.

Just placed an order $33.98 shipped and posted preliminary review!

Emio Edge SNES Arcade Stick $29.99 - https://www.amazon.com/Edge-Super-Joyst ... =EMiO+Edge

The Emio site lists the stick MSRP $39.99.

Emio The Edge Super Joystick for SNES Classic and PC $39.99

I found a link for the Emio SNES pad, thought I would finally have a dedicated Classic Controller SNES pad that Club Nintendo kept in Japan only. Disappointing that Amazon customer reviews show the Dpad as temperamental. :?

Emio Edge Super Gamepad for SNES Classic Edition and PC - $19.99
http://www.poweredbyemio.com/home/product/details/EMI019.html

On the other hand, the gamepad might be worth the twenty dollars for the Classic Controller USB adapter.

EMiO Edge SNES Gamepad for SNES Mini $18.99- https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepa ... B073HPD5TC

Edit Update
THANK YOU fastbilly for the call out for this beautiful Arcade Stick!

Wow, the Amazon shipment was quick. A preliminary check with the USB adapter confirms what I suspected, the stick being digital for the SNES Classic emulates the hat Switch on the PC. Not a big deal when used with either JoystickCursor or JoyToKey 5.8.2 that convert the hat switch to the keyboard arrow keys.

The controller automatically sensed and downloads the driver thru Windows 7 Update. There is a concern of older online drivers available in the eventuality that a given operating system no longer supported.

 I'll post an expanded review later on, a great smaller footprint Arcade Stick that works for the Wii and PC!
Thru the USB adapter, two of the Emio SNES buttons lock together. Not a big deal since there are eight buttons including Select and Start. The two shared buttons are above below each other at the left and set as the primary fire button. I set the keyboard emulation to Mame default key controls which works out for most games.

POV is the hat switch matched to the SNES Stick. Note the CTRL key, this shared by both the EMIO Y button3 and L button 5.

Matched to Mame arcade controls, the 5 key (Player One Coin) is Emio SNES Select and 1 key (Player One Start) is Emio SNES Start.

Nice hand rest for the action buttons that all can be set to auto fire!

My local Walmart had three in stock yesterday, too. Must be a last-minute Christmas shipment. Anyone still looking for one might want to check the local stock.
