If anything, keep your eyes on local retailers, places like GS will stock both at the same price.

This. If you're picky about aesthetic, chance you'll be able to find the nonselects for the same price. Even if not, I'm okay with being able to find pikmin 3 and not pay out the ass for it.

NES Remix Pack getting a NS release is odd given it's seemingly readily available and only $29.99 to start.

That's a good point.

Also, I wonder if Nintendo Selects Pikmin 3 will include any of the DLC. I'm thinking no, but I'm still curious.

I might actually pick up Yoshi's New Island now. I heard too many mixed opinions when it came out to really be able to try it out without feeling worried, but at that price, I can live with only a decent game.

Does anyone think GameStop will take all their new stock of these games and mark them used to make profit on them?

Seems unlikely for a first party Nintendo title. Gamestop only does this for games that don't sell well. Look for the latest ninja turtles game on wii (based on the Nickelodeon CGI cartoon). Many Gamestops are selling that one "used" when they're really new games in open boxes. Gamestop also did this for Centipede: Infestation on Wii, but that one has been out for years now; it might not be so easy to find a new open box sold as used today.

First Party Nintendo games are going to sell well. Gamestop has no need to mark them as used to sell them below MSRP.

No what I mean is you know how games from Nintendo selects were only 19.99 and when stores started not to sell as many GameStop jumped the prices. That's what I was asking.

As Sam pointed out, Gamestop only does this after the game has been on the shelf for a while. I bought many "used" Wii games that were originally at a higher cost new, some had a new sticker under the used sticker. I know what you mean though, look at how they spiked Metroid Trilogy and Wii Xeonoblade when they did that huge buy back and repackaged a few years ago. Gaah to think of all those Metroid Trilogy metal cases tossed! :?

Given a choice off the store shelf, I usually buy the Selects or Greatest Hits versions of games. With very few exceptions such as PS2 Grand Theft Auto IV, the later release sometimes have additional levels (PS2 Silent Hill for example) as well as bug fixes.

I can never understand why some collectors prefer the original. Sure it initially costs more, but in total inventory the Selects and Greatest Hits only come out after a given title has sold in huge quantities. The newer Selects and Greatest Hits overall inventory are usually less total numbers making it more rare; depending how many more sales it has by the end of a console cycle.

I don't mind the extra color band on the case signifying a Selects or Greatest Hits, for me that is a badge of a fixed game with possibly additional content. So funny that collectors will buy PS2 1st Edition Silent Hill 2 and miss out on a whole total new level of the red GH edition. There are games like this in ALL consoles.

Ooh, Wii Super Mario All Stars coming out as Selects! Now in this case, the additional content most likely will not be included compared to the initial release. Fingers crossed for the CD and Booklet for the Selects version, though doubtful.

This JPG should be in the OP even though it lists the Canada price. Nice to see some Wii games re-released. :!:

It could happen eventually if stock on the new copies runs out, and there's clear demand. If it's hard to find and selling for big money on eBay, I don't blame them for aligning to market value in the used market. I highly doubt they will just mark all the new ones as "used", though. Even the Xenoblade stuff, I don't know if it was entirely clear whether those really were reprints or just stock that GS had been amassing. Is there any way to tell the reprints from the original run, assuming that's the case?

Plus, if the market value starts jumping, they could still jack up the new price, too.
