Besides Melee and Metroid Prime, every first party Wii release was better than the Gamecube counterpart.

Does library = first party games? Skies of Arcadia, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil, Ikaruga, Pacman Vs, Prince of Persia SOT, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Soul Calibur II, Killer7, Tales of Syphonia, Rogue Squadron etc. Not saying Wii doesn't have good games that are not made by Nintendo, but comparing 3rd person party support, the GC was much better supported.

F-Zero GX and Pikmin 2 - did not even receive sequels on the Wii.

As for Wii first party vs GC counter parts, I think many Zelda fans would say that Windwaker is a better game than Skyward Sword.

Mario Kart Double Dash vs Mario Kart Wii? I'd go with Double Dash pretty easily.

I think who had the better Paper Mario would be a good debate, I never cared for them myself.

I don't even think Galaxy 1 was better than Sunshine to be honest (an unpopular opinion admittedly). I do think Galaxy 2 was better than both though.

It's a fun debate, but I think most would like GC's versions of Nintendo games vs Wii ones. At least I do personally.

Plus I never said the Gamecube had a better library than the Wii, just that the Wii was more overrated relative to the GC's.

It's just a Wii fan ignoring the last system. Much of the games that were sequels on the Wii were with issues making them inferior. Mario Galaxy clearly was a stand out there as it was far nicer than Sunshine. Wind Waker really is probably the best or second best 3D Zelda title to date as many would argue still Ocarina of Time. Mario Kart DD had a lot more going for it when you take out the multiplayer online aspect with the dual racers, better courses, and it didn't have those crappy forced bikes. Brawl on the GC and Wii were fairly similar, but depending on your tastes the Wii game had this slight delay from input to reaction on screen people could or couldn't get used to (I hated it) and the online depending on your luck was sketchy. Take the non-first party stuff and put it forward, the GC would bury the Wii alive in quality and quantity worth playing.

I dunno, I think there were a lot of great third-party games on the Wii, too, they just get ignored for whatever reason. I'm sure the mountains of shovelware don't help.

Wii ended up getting The Last Story, Xenoblade, and Pandora's Tower, for one, and that's pretty awesome. Arc Rise Fantasia isn't too bad, either.

Zack & Wiki is really cool, as is the aforementioned Another Code: R. It's an acquired taste, but Muramasa is pretty slick, even if some of the shine is taken off by the updated Vita version. That Crystal Chronicles game had some really interesting ideas in it, too.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was a real surprise. The system got Rayman: Origins, which is pretty rockin'. And if you haven't tried Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, you should, it's surprisingly good. There's others that I have that aren't coming to mind, but there were more third-party titles than you'd expect that were pretty good. Now, I'm not saying that the GC didn't have stronger third-party support, because it did. But we can't remove first-party titles from the equation, and in my mind, the Wii, overall, trounces the GC in that regard.

I'd also not ignore some of the cool stuff we saw on WiiWare. Especially getting Mega Man 9 & 10, Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth and Contra: ReBirth, among others.

It is sad the system never saw an F-Zero game. We did manage to get two Kirby games, though, after nothing on GC, as well as a new Donkey Kong Country. (For the record, I don't love Wind Waker or Ocarina as much as some do. I actually enjoyed both Twilight and Skyward more. Link's Awakening is my favorite in the series.) We also got a pretty darn nice 2D Mario, even if the art style for those games is kinda "eh".

Honestly, they're both fantastic systems. But I just feel that I'd get more mileage out of the Wii than the GC if I were stuck on a deserted island. Of course, I think I'd get the most out of a Super Nintendo or PS2, but that's an argument for another day!

I'm not denying the Wii had a handful of really great titles that were unique to the system and not mishandled franchise titles I mentioned, it's just for any great game on there you could (port and not) name twice that for the Cube. Wii just didn't get much respect from developers or gamers.
