Yeah you got it that's Steve alright, drops just above the ground and accelerates like a fright train with the brakes out. :) And Randy is the one with the around the world shot and I do just what you said too...roll em, then beat em to death on your side of the arena. Also fun, Bill(baldy) that elevator shot that goes up and drops like a rock on the head, on the NES game the AI most the time falls for it, and if they're on the sides (top/bottom) the ball tends to fall into your guys hands to beat the hell out of them for another shot or two.

Wow, why do I not own this? This looks like a perfect VS. game.
Thanks for the suggestion, ninja.

Oh, yeah. I waffle between using Bill or Randy. Bill's faster, but I don't know that speed buys you a whole lot in the game. Bill's shots are interesting, too, just from a misdirection standpoint. That lightning shot is pretty great, and it can really screw with people's timing when you use it in close. Actually, Steve's shot can do that, too, if they're close to the line and try to grab too soon while it's still accelerating.

Glad I'm not the only one that uses Randy that way. Despite not having as much shot power as Sam, those two shots are incredibly strong. Although Sam probably has the most useful shots in the game. The Blaster, in particular, is awesome for its blow-through capability. His jumping shot is most useful just from the sheer speed, it's great if someone isn't ready for it. It's not quite as effective as the Spear from the back of the court, though, although I still tend to abuse that a bit against the CPU.

Another thing that's fun (and something I didn't know about for a long time) is the ability to steer your shots. That's what the Break stat is for, and there are a few shots that you can practically steer around the active player and whack the AI. That's fun to do, too! :)

Yup that's a favorite where I'll bank Sam's ground shot wide and take out the 2 dudes behind the one with the active marker.
