This word, I do not think you know what it means.

If the game has "Mario" in the title, it's a flagship Mario game. Doesn't matter if it is 2D or 3D.

Besides Donkey Kong, most other games include Mario cameos.

I think I do know what the word means. I think I also created the thread a while back to discuss what games were encompassed in that term by popular sentiment.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

1) I quoted the Princess Bride, so you are welcome.

B) "Mainline" is a terrible word to use concerning video games, no matter what thread you created.

4) I'm not starting an argument, just stating the facts as the word has to do with trains or drugs. Now if you are using the word "mainline" as a nod to "a chief train of thought" that would be clever and a great discussion. Kind of like "The evolution of Mario" and what games showed different variants of the character. Like how Mario is totally different in Mario Land and Mario Land 2. This is more a discussion of the quintessential Mario games.

Purple) I am a word snob.
