XOC's newest album ~ Kirby's Adventure

Post by Mozgus »

Mentioning Kirby in another thread reminded me about shooting you guys a link to XOC's latest project:

This guy is quickly becoming my favorite game music cover artist. He always avoids the typical styles that so many other people make use of in their covers, and instead makes fantastic use of overlooked yet highly appropriate instruments for each game, or even makes his own. As with his Super Mario World album, I think the music represents Kirby at his core even more-so than the beeps and bloops originally did. There are only a few tracks which reach out a little too far into strange territory to fit this description.

If only these songs could be inserted into the game ROM.

And for good measure, here's my favorite singular Kirby cover. It's by Neskimos. I love the dark transformation the song goes through just after 3 minutes.

Seems pretty good. Reminds me a lot of that the Brink of Time acid jazz Chrono Trigger soundtrack. Very interesting and experimental. :)

That album is almost universally hated but I actually liked it.

I know! I don't even like Jazz all that much, but I think it's one of the coolest and most unique video game soundtracks I've listened too. Tbh, I only ever listen to the unique albums when it comes to video game music. Dracula Battle, Brink of time, lol, and I guess this one. No dracula rap battle for me though! You know of any other albums like this one or brink of time? Been meaning to get some more interesting video game albums.

Well, all of the OCRemix projects have reached pretty far out into new aural turf, given the material. Some more than others.

Other than that, look into the following:

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - White Melodies
Killer Instinct - Killer Cuts
OneUp Studios - Time & Space ~ A Tribute to Yasunori Mitsuda
Super Mario Bros 3 - Akihabara Electric Circus
Xenogears - Creid
Sega Tunes Arrangements of: Comix Zone, Toejam & Earl, Vectorman, X-Men 2
