Price is way too high.

Given all the stupid memory mapper issues with the various NES games it'd have to be expensive to design something like this.

I think it's a supply/demand issue. It probably took some legitimate R&D to get that to work and they know the only people interested are going to be old-geezer geeks like us.

It probably did take a lot, but they have to realize they might have like 3 people buy them at that price...
There's a very small population that would actually want to pay that just for the privilege of playing ROMs on an actual console instead of just buying actual cartridges.

Most NES games are dirt cheap anyway:

But they're prolly making it in mind for those three people. The thing is with all the effort put in and all the technology and custom parts that must be made, $135 seems like a fair price. Considering other kits and flash carts have gone for about half the price of that and were limited in mapper compatability, this seems like quite a cool device. If they could get it down to around $50, it would be great, but they'll have to streamline everything.

I think for a first effort and for something as revolutionary as this, something most NES fans thought to be impossible, I think the price makes sense. It isn't needed for most fans, considering there are plenty of games which could be procured inexepnsively, but for the ultra nes fans, it's quite a deal. Hell, they sell NWC carts when NWC itself isn't all that fun, but people have bought them anyways.
