My partner got me a Retron 77 as a gift recently. I don't have any cartridges yet but I decided to test it out. I put some ROMS on the microSD that it came with, but nothing is displaying when I turn it on. Not even a black screen. It mentions that if you want to play that way then you should get some sort of user interface when turning on the console. I tried without any microSD card in it and that didn't work either. I also tried on both a capture card, and my TV, and with different HDMI cables.

I just wanna ensure if there should be a user interface upon turning this on, and if so then then I guess my unit is defective.

There should be from looking online, and getting no video output is noted problem. Found a few forums and youtube videos mentions.

Hyperkin make some the lowest grade retro products, my Retron 5 has all but 1 cart slot dead from pins popping out and bending, etc. Hopefully your friend can exchange it for you.
