I'm currently using the newer style Xbox One controller that's pure Bluetooth, but I have the older style one too that I used a bit before that. Part of the reason that I wound up getting the new one is due to a disconnect issue, albeit one that was more sporadic than what you seem to be experiencing (plus it'd usually come back right away).
Still, what I would suggest taking a look at, if you haven't already, is not your controller driver, but instead your USB drivers/settings. That's what ended up being the problem for me. In my case, I had bought a USB 3.0 card to help my Oculus Rift work - the exact card that Oculus recommended, in fact. In addition to the occasional controller dropout, I would also see the Rift get dropped and immediately come back pretty often, usually when it wasn't in use.
The root of the problem is that the card that Oculus recommended seemed to have odd driver issues with Windows 10. With the auto-detected drivers, it wound up with some ghost USB device, with the chip maker's drivers it had low power issues (I think what triggered the dropouts, which happened even on other USB ports)...more or less, I swapped that out for an add-in card with a different controller chip and poof, problems gone.
