...the assembly will still spin fine in a different PS1.
I recently acquired four broken PS1s. I've fixed three of them, but I still cannot get the CD drive to spin in the 1001. I've taken the drive out and attached it to the other systems {all 7501s) and it works fine in those. Any idea as to what I can check to fix this problem?
I appreciate the help.

Re: Drive will not spin in PS1 1001, but...
That's a weird one. All I can offer are guesses.
At first I was thinking damaged ribbon cable or power cable, but IIRC those are connected to the drive itself. So you're taking the drive and its own cables from the 1001 to the 7501 and they work. If so, that would indicated the cables are okay. If that's not the case, try swapping out the cables on the 1001 and see what happens.
The next guess would be the 1001's optical drive controller chip has fried. Without that chip I don't think the drive is going to initiate power up spin. You can take a look at SCPH-1001 schematics and try to track down the actual chip itself, and check it with a multimeter.
That's all I've got for now.
