CRT monitor repair around North GA

Post by bmoc »

I've got two Sony PVM 2950Q monitors that need a little work done by someone more experienced than myself. One seems to have a failing pincushion circuit because the top of the screen is bowed and the service menu settings have no effect on it. The other has some color bleed problems. Wherever white is rendered on the screen, green bleeds off to the right of it. I can correct that with the contrast and brightness but doing so leaves the screen extremely dim.

Can anyone recommend a person/place that repairs CRTs around the North GA area. I'm willing to travel a few hours to have them looked at so NC, TN, and SC are also possibilities.

Have you tried any local old man TV repair places? We have a couple in Charlotte, I've never contacted them but it can't hurt to look up someone local.

I am not aware of any near me that still work on CRTs. The best I have found so far is 2 hours away but they wouldn't give me a ballpark figure on the repair cost.

So after calling and emailing a few places, it sounds like my PVM with the color bleeding is on its last legs. I am hoping that I'll be able to take the pincushion circuit out of that one and put it in the other.

In any case, it looks like I am going to have to make a trip to Atlanta or Asheville in order to get them serviced by someone experienced. I did find a local tv shop that was willing to take a look but they wanted $45 just for diagnosis. Not to mention they didn't know what a PVM was so I wasn't getting any warm fuzzies from them. I also tried a few arcade repairmen but none were willing to work on PVMs.
