XRGB Mini Question Wii Aspect Ratio Headaches

Me personally, I put my Wii through the XRGB mini, but I set the output to 480p, so I'm really just using it to convert to HDMI. I don't notice any added delay, if there is any, and I don't mind the way the Wii looks on my HDTV when the TV does the scaling. I would just use the above mentioned 480p HDMI converter thing, but I'm fresh out of HDMI inputs. Long story short, I don't have to worry about aspect ratio issues.

i've set 480p to framemeister on my wii. isn't the screen rather dark in your case? ive tried switching it to 480i and it seems better(brighter) and not the dark look (think nes VC dark) i wonder if its because i'm using d-terminal to the wii to get the 480p. or is 480p really darker than 480i

anyhow for now im sticking to the 480i , just because the VC 240p (except nes) plus framemeister scanlines is just bliss even compared to say retroarch or mednafen 240p modes.

Nope, it looks great! I'm also using (official Nintendo) D-terminal cables.

He has a link to profiles all the way at the bottom. I got really good results with his 16:9 GCN profile. I had to tweak it a little to work with the Wii better, but it looked pretty good stock. I don't know if he added a proper Wii profile, I haven't downloaded his updated profiles yet.

edit: I just downloaded his newest profiles and checked, there is no Wii profile. What I did was take his GCN 16:9 profile and use 240p Test Suite (Wii version) to tweak it, then saved it as a new profile.

graah i must have bad cables then? its also the official nintendo one.or maybe its the tv. ill try upping the brightness of it. but strange that it looks ok in 480i anyway. im going to look into those profiles but im haven't updated fw of the xrgb yet i think im in 1.08. so i presume those profiles includes changing the brightness levels?

Did you ever calibrate your TV with DVE (BD / DVD) or WOW? I would do that first.

You should definitely update to the latest firmware so you can start using profiles. It makes using the Framemeister a lot easier since you don't have to switch a million settings to get optimal video each time you use a different console.
