XRGB-3 settings for NES

Post by Marspants »

Alright, so I've started testing out my XRGB-3 with my Nes connected with the composite (Red and Yellow) connections on the side. After tweaking with the settings I can get it to look alright but not really that much better then normal output on my HDTV.

I've been using the guide above to navigate the menus but I was wondering if anyone has any tips or custom configs that they could share to make it look better/ Opinion on if it's just better to play on an older TV.

Some HDTVs upscale better than others. I know my current TV handles Genesis input a lot better than my old one did. The other thing is the NES doesn't really use any of the graphical tricks that the upscalers sometimes have problems with because it lacks the hardware to do so.

My biggest piece of advice would be to use B1 mode for all your retro consoles. It introduces only a single frame of lag compared to a few frames in B0 mode, and for old games it's not like you're planning on getting rid of the fact that it's pixellated.

The NES's AV out has horrible interlacing issues no matter what input or TV you use unfortunately.
