Playstation Troubles
Playstation Troubles
Alright guys, I just Picked up 2 playstations and a handful of backups for only $10. Turns out only one of the consoles was modded but still that's pretty sweet. The thing is the open button was stuck on one of them so I opened it up to give it a good clean. I accidentally hit the black part the laser is connected to. It kinda hovers in place when you remove the top piece of the shell. After that the playstation doesn't load up anymore. Any ideas on how to fix it?
Re: Playstation Troubles
Can you upload some pics? Is it broken, or just out of place?

Re: Playstation Troubles
It's just out of place I think. It still powers on, but it won't boot up the game. It even sounds like it's going to boot up but nothing happens. I'll try to upload pics tomorrow. But in case it's just out of place, is there a way to fix it?
Re: Playstation Troubles
Pics would make it easier to see what could be wrong. Try to get them up as soon as possible.
Re: Playstation Troubles

It's probably really hard to see if there's anything wrong but all I did was touch the black piece and it must have misaligned it somehow.
While I'm asking questions, this may be a stupid one but:

Is that all that's needed for the genesis model 1? Because I don't know how to plug the genny into the tv.

Re: Playstation Troubles
That looks like a Gen model 2 RF box. The model 1 RF box looks very similar to the NES one, its just black.Rebz wrote: While I'm asking questions, this may be a stupid one but:

For the PS, if you just hit the black plastic cover a bit on the drive unit, that shoudn't have really done anything. Maybe you disturbed one of the mod chip wires accidentally?

Re: Playstation Troubles
Pick up the drive assembly and just set it back in while making sure that the three small rubber holes are aligned correctly, test and repeat as needed.Rebz wrote:

If this doesn't solve your problem then how hard did you hit it and how beat up was the PS1 when you got it?

Re: Playstation Troubles
I got it to work now thanks guys, I did the aligning thing. Also thanks hobie for the genny answer, that sucks how does somebody end up with a model 2 rf for a model 1? That's one of the weirdest loose ends I ever got. Anyways if anybody's interested in a modded ps1 let me know lol, I'll throw in the back ups too. It's a stack full but nothing of note except rival school and ff8.

Re: Playstation Troubles
As long as the Genesis doesn't have a weird RCA plug for the RF connector (I have one with a tiny center hole) you can use a NES RF box with the Genesis. There are plenty of cables on ebay too if nobody here has a spare, just make sure is says its for a Model 1 Genesis or Sega Master System since they use the same cable.Rebz wrote:I got it to work now thanks guys, I did the aligning thing.
