Batman and Harley Quinn, though why Batman gets top billing in what is obviously a decent Harley Quinn animated film is beyond me.

Also, not a film but the 1982 filmed production of Sweeney Todd is on BroadwayHD in celebration of Stephen Sondheim's forthcoming 90th birthday. Angela Lansbury is marvelous as Mrs. Lovett and George Hearn is great as Sweeney Todd, a role he later plays in Sweeney Todd in Concert, alongside Patti Lupone.

New write-up time:

Paperhouse

A beautiful film that's kind of like a more kid-friendly version of Pan's Labyrinth, yet still manages to be dark as hell.

Jaws

I just don't see whats special, I had big expectations. If I didn't know any better I would thought its a B-movie, its not even remotely scary. My only guess is that people in the 70s were much simpler and got impressed by little things. It was a time when people believed myths and fairy tales, a time before they could go to Wikipedia and check all the facts.

I would like to think maybe they were impressed by the shark's special effects(which you don't see too much of), but I remember that quote from Back to the Future II where Marty says "The shark still looks fake" so I don't know how it was perceived then. The movie has a rating of 8/10 on IMDB by 500,000+ votes.

K-12, the film adaptation of the Melanie Martinez album of the same. I enjoyed it, but it helps excessively if you're a Melanie Martinez fan.

And I just finished Timmy Failure, the Disney+ original film based on the book series of the same name. I liked it and I recommend it, especially if you've got kids and/or you're babysitting.

That’s pretty darn funny. I don’t know much about plex. I take it you must be scraping titles from some online database.

New write-up of the week:

Prophecy

Image

AKA: The Big Mutated Bear Movie

It's actually a pretty good eco-horror movie until the film hits the last act, when it appears to have thrown its hands in the air, said "fuck it", and decided to have all their (remaining) characters take stupid pills. Then it's funny as hell.

The best scene of that movie involves a flying sleeping bag. If you have seen the movie, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I loved that part. It so great that I tracked down a gif of that scene and put it in the write-up
