Aside from Return of the Jedi on TNT right now, last movie I saw was Sonic the Hedgehog yesterday afternoon.

Third short for the month:

Wakey Wakey

Very surreal and very pretty. I actually kind of wish it was longer.

Finally checked out Ash is the Purest White the other night, been wanting to watch it for almost a year and finally got around to it. From the trailer, I thought it was going to be action oriented, but it veered in more of a drama direction. Still a great movie, and really liked it. Definitely one of the best films I caught in a while. The plot revolves around a woman living in an industrial city in China, who falls for a gang member and gets caught up in his lifestyle.

Did anyone else see it?

And you were most assuredly correct.

Mortal Kombat

its really not that bad if you accept it for what it is, I really liked how they incorporated elements of the game into the movie without over doing it. I think people behind the movie were smart to create a rewatchable fun movie created for the average 90s Mortal Kombat fan. The special effects are quite good given the time of release, it seems they didn't try to save up in that area.

somethings I didn't like
Fighting matches were not epic enough...didn't feel like Mortal Kombat
Raiden was too cheesey and felt forced in, and I keep thinking it was played by Jeff Jarrett from the WWF/WWE
No gore...Mortal Kombat is all about it but there is hardly a drop of blood. Maybe to give it a pg13 rating?

Watched Action Point. It was pretty funny.

Also rewatched Elvira: Mistress of the Dark for the first time in ages. I still enjoy this.

And now I'm rewatching Good Boys.

Oh and last night I rewatched Jason Goes to Hell. Mmmm… cheese!

The last new short of the month....

Dead Hearts

Image

A sappy little horror fairytale about the life (and death) of a mortician that is equal parts dark, charming and funny.

And it's only 16 minutes and there's a link at the end of the write-up. Go watch it.

Weird AF, which fits in perfectly in my wheelhouse.

Rewatched Imaginaerum. I still enjoy it and the Nightwish album it's based on.
