A new poll has been requested. Specifically which children's charity (as that was nominated during the first time), and if that is really preferred to helping a forum member.
Please nominate a worthy children's charity.
As mentioned in the last charity auction topic that is still stickied from last year, we need to decide on a charity this year.
Circumstances demand we limit this to a week. I'm not opposed to extending it should extenuating circumstances intervene. All this Democracy is important, and I'm unaccustomed to it. Let me know how I'm doing throughout this process. I'd like to say "we have been" but I'm going it alone.... Still, should something come to light before the deadline, I will initiate a process that will allow a recount on short notice (36 hours notice will be given on the deadline).
#1: Forum Members - This has always taken precedence; Unfortunately I have only little knowledge of the family structure of some of our long-standing members, and I know little otherwise. As was standard with previous auctions; PM me if you know of a member here that legitimately needs help! I consider all forum members friends, and many as family. This is usually how I take or give donations through my union. Community cooperation! Ho!
#2: Children's Hospital - 'Member when our donation made it so a kid had a Millenium Falcon around his bed (I member - that was so awesome!)? Donation #2 is a children's hospital charity. I'm not familiar with many, but perhaps someone here can suggest one. I'm happy to start another poll, tho I think we should be able to decide one through discussion.
#3: Animals - Cats and dogs are some of the friendliest personalities I've met. It's been nominated here before because it's also a good cause. Animals sometimes get relegated to sub-standard conditions for various circumstances. In BC at least, the ASPCA is at the forefront, even taking full control of the Ferret population problem (my favorite animal that I could never own but want).
#4: Other - Please suggest your own charity! I'm not world-aware (I find politics makes me depressed). I'm sad that the united states will very shortly have enforced regulations that if your electorate has been truthful will mean that there will be painful repercussions throughout that will definitely affect my life. It may be too soon to make any decisions, but it may still be a very important donation. If #4 gets more votes this will definitely be decided in another thread.

I recommend the "Make Samson not Broke" fund.
Seriously though, it's hard to say no to a children's hospital. Shriners does great work.

If the powers that be have been persuaded by my request, I will totally be "red-head *KOBN*" and magically I will have shriner status given little tassels and all. My tanks will have much more armor class.
Yes! The plan is coming together;
Coup to get me red-head - Give me ops!

If you're really taking this on I'm proud of you!
I'm all for Chrildrens Hospitals too. My son had brain surgery at 1.5 weeks old at Riley Children's Hospital. He's now - little over a year with no problems since!
Thanks for doing this! I'll be donating as usual.

No, another member who wishes to remain anonymous. I've changed my vote.

We need to decide on which children's hospital charity will be donated to.
Riley Children's Hospital? Ronald McDonald Houses?

If a member of this forum reached out to you with a sincere and genuine request for help, then we should help that person first.
Of course, it couldn't possible hurt to donate money to Riley Children's Hospital or to Ronald McDonald House. On the other hand, those guys are already registered 501c3, and they already have their own fundraising efforts as part of their annual budget.
If a forum member needs help, he or she probably does not have a 501c3 or fundraisers.

If it goes to a charity and not the member I'd suggest Children's Hospital, not a fan of the RMH in the least bit.
There was a time long ago when they were in great need and turned down help just because of ownership of a house and a job that just paid over their minimum limit to assist. Didn't matter about any other details, debts, or other bills they argued quit the job or sell the house or go somewhere else. That's not a charity that I have good feelings towards, same goes with another.
