Of course we needed a thread for the world's greatest musical genre.
Never thought I'd see someone with "666" in their username posting in here.

We still don’t have a New Wave thread, though.
Re: Black metal
So this makes two threads about black metal, since the other metal thread had ended up dominated by black metal and Deftones.

Soon every thread will be about black metal. You cannot resist the crystalline pagan darkness.
So, anyone been listening to black metal lately?

If I am in a metal mood, prog metal is more my speed.

I'm more of a thrash or death guy. I like some black inspired death metal like goatwhore or similar. The vocals get me on black metal.

Truthfully, I made this acct a decade ago when I was a 19 y.o. edge lord.
Still enjoy black metal, but I've really chilled out since.
I don't even own a Nintendo system these days. Don't tell Beelzebub.

I saw Deafheaven live last year. Really dig the more atmospheric stuff now, and their Alcest inspired sound is right up my alley, I'd argue they're even more enjoyable than Alcest. Their mix of indie rock, shoegaze, and death metal is a lot of fun. The juxtaposition makes each side all the more interesting.
It was tight tohugh. Saw a great mix of people: dudes wearing Napalm Death shirts, chicks reppin' Tera Melos, another guy w/ a Siouxsie and the Banshees shirt. They really speak for an elective audience, and their last album was a total banger. Felt like home. Idgaf if purists wanna discredit them, they've yet to release a less than stellar album, and Sunbather is already a classic.

Who do you like? Prog is cool but I mainly stick w/ Mastodon and Opeth.
Devin Townsend's new album is ace.
