Cool Nuts for Nintendo special from 1988 via this dudes blog. Pretty cool stuff.
I now respect John Stossel, the man braved 80's toy crazes, had the stones not to smack one of those arrogant and frankly rude 80's kids and kept a level head and provided a realistic answer when asked about his views on videogame violence.

And to think he did it before there was really a big debate either is pretty amazing.

Actually, there were a lot of big debates about video games and violence back then, believe it or not. I know it is difficult to wrap your head around with the graphics of the day not being even slightly realistic but some people thought of video games as desensitizing people to violence even back then. Hell, maybe even more so than now. Remember this is the age of Dungeons & Dragons hysteria.

This has probably been brought up in the 45 pages of this thread, but why can't we embed youtube/vimeo videos on this site?

To be honest I've never actually heard anyone ask before.

Personally I like that nobody does it, it keeps this place looking a lot cleaner.

Indeed. Back when I was younger and watched 20/20 because my parents did I found his reports to be pretty level headed. I think I mght have even seen that report when it was broadcast.

I did bring this up quite a few times  Frankly I don't like opening new tabs and +90% of links in this topic I didn't even bother exploring. Also, as a retro gaming site it would benefit greatly from embedded gameplay videos.

that was cool, but would've benefited from a more stationary camera in some scenes imo. The jitteryness was offputting.
