Can you clarify what version you're playing? There are over 10 ports of the original Ys III.

I was thinking of playing the SNES version, but it sounds like I should play the Genesis version instead. Is that the "best" version of the original Ys III?

Well no... The Turbo CD version is the best.

The SNES version isn't bad (I'll be playing it). It's simply difficult like many other action-RPGs from the era.
