Together RPG - Ys III - 7/11 --> 9/11

Post by Jmustang1968 »

Next up is our action genre represented by Ys III

Ys III is a unique one in the series. It is a side scrolling action RPG departing from the top down view from the first 2 Ys games. This game had English/NA releases on Genesis, SNES, and TG16CD.

It was also remade for the PSP as Ys Oath in Felghana.

Which version will you be playing?

I vote that if Bone wants to participate that he has to play a non-Ys RPG instead.

Who do you think nominated this one?

I figured it was Hobie.

Bone was very insistent about this one. Threats were made. Love ya bone!

Anyway, I played the Genesis version of Ys 3 for last year's summer challenge (it was spectacular and I recommend it to everyone. That music...so good), so I will be playing the psp remake this time.

The remake changed the perspective, so I'm excited to see how it compares to the original.

Oath in Felghana is the daily sale on Steam at the moment. I wonder if Bone has a man on the inside? :o

Strangely enough I won't be able to start this for a little while. I'm moving next week and my consoles / games are all packed up.

I'll be playing Ys III on SNES. I also have the PS2 port so I may try that out if I have time. Despite my raging Falcom obsession I haven't managed to pick up the Famicom / Genesis / Turbo CD ports yet, but if I do find any within the next two months I'll try those out two.

I'll also be playing Felghana on PSP. Awesome game.

Well damn, good price on Steam. I might have to participate. I played Ys, but not II... am I ok to jump on III?

not sure, but may as well play II: it's fun and relatively quick.

I recently finished Ys I & II in around 8 hours. So yeah, Ys II is short.

Ys III is pretty brief as well, for that matter. Under 10 hours. I find that Felghana is about twice as long as the original version of III.
